New Zealand Tourist Attractions
in the South Island

South Island New Zealand Tourist Attractions

Plan your New Zealand Holidays with a visit to the South Island’s Attractions. Let’s start with a few of our recommendations for the best water, land and air attractions.

Water – Tourist Attractions

Shotover Jet

Located a few miles from the center of Queenstown this thrill seeking adventure is my personal favorite attraction! Imagine jetting through narrow canyons at high speeds as your boat skims around crags and boulders. Then there is the thrill of 360 degree spins within a very close range of the actual canyons. Wow!

What makes this adventure even more amazing is that these jet-boats operate in some areas of the canyon in as little as 5-1/2” water. Hold on tight and enjoy a fantastic ride that you will talk about for a lifetime! An added benefit... studies show that a good thrill awakens biochemical pathways that are dormant giving you a sense of euphoria and well being. Now that’s a cocktail to toast to… oxygen, sugar, adrenaline, cortisol and endorphins… To your health!

Air – Tourist Attractions

Skyline Gondola, Restaurant & Luge in Queenstown

This must see attraction is a 5 minute walk from Central Queenstown where you will see a spectacular 220 degree panorama with breathtaking views of Coronet Peak, The Remarkables and Lake Wakatipu to Cecil and Walter Peaks. This is the steepest lift in the Southern hemisphere. The 4-person gondola will take you almost one half mile high above Queenstown to the top of Bob’s Peak, where you can relax at the bar or in the restaurant. What a magnificent and awe-inspiring view!
